This project started as a mark-making assignment my first year of college (2021). Using a safety pin, black paint, and ink, I was able to make this very simple yet striking image.

As years passed, I still found myself enjoying this page in my sketchbook, but knew I could do more with it. I removed the warmth and increased the contrast to make it even bolder. As I learned more about graphic design and photo editing, I recolored it and added overlays on Adobe Photoshop to give it new life (2025).

This piece and it’s variations have been some of the simplest things I’ve made, yet have remained one of my favorites.
